Philip Poortmans is a breast cancer specialist with radiation oncology as tool. After touring through Europa via The Netherlands and France, he returned professionally recently to his homeland Belgium - while in his heart he’s a Mediterranean.

He served in active roles in several societies, among others as President of ESTRO and of the European Cancer Organisation (formerly ECCO). His work is mainly focussed on breast cancer but he also earned his spurs in the fields of quality assurance, malignant lymphoma, urological cancers, education and mentorship and, more recently, he became involved in FLASH-RT.
