Dr. Jaume Masià holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona and a PhD from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where he is Full Professor of Surgery. He is Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and Hospital del Mar in Barcelona.

In 1998, he pioneered perforator flap microsurgery (DIEP, SGAP, TAP) in Spain and advanced preoperative planning with CT angiography, greatly reducing operative time and complication rates. Since 2005, he has led the development of lymphedema surgery in Europe, being among the first to implement lymphatic imaging with indocyanine green (ICG) and to establish advanced reconstructive protocols.

He is recognized as one of Europe’s leading experts in reconstructive microsurgery and has lectured at leading universities worldwide. In 2008, Dr. Masia co-founded the European School of Reconstructive Microsurgery, where he co-directs the International Master’s in Reconstructive Microsurgery and the European Master’s in Oncologic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Breast Surgery. He is the author of several books and numerous scientific publications, and leads a research group on lymphedema at the Sant Pau Research Institute in Barcelona.
