Dr McGuire is a native of St. Louis, Missouri, attending medical school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, did a general surgery residency at Washington University and plastic surgery at St. Louis University. She is a clinical instructor of surgery at Washington University and has been in private practice with Parkcrest Plastic Surgery since 1991. She is President Elect of the Aesthetic Foundation, the education and research arm of The Aesthetic Society. She is the Vice Chair of the Breast Emergency Response Task Force, a clinical editor for The Aesthetic Journal, and PRS Global open, a member of the ASERF scientific research committee, ASPS BIA-ALCL subcommittee, former ASAPS ethics committee chair, and the 2024 nominating committee for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. She is principal investigator along with Dr Caroline Glicksman for the ASERF sponsored study “Systemic Symptoms biospecimen analysis study” the first prospective blinded study of patient with self-described breast implant illness and controls groups. This study has 5 published papers and she has presented this data at numerous meetings in the United States as well as internationally. She performed live surgery at the Atlanta Breast meeting in 2020 and has authored multiple papers published in ASJ and PRS as well as book chapters and is a frequent lecturer at national and international meetings.
